imperfection is beautiful

Yesterday, I decided to bring my Holga 120 GCFN along to an elopement I was coordinating, as the groom is a film enthusiast. In a world where everything is all about megapixels and perfection, shooting with a Holga camera feels like a breath of fresh air. This little plastic camera doesn’t care about sharp focus or perfect lighting—in fact, that’s kind of its charm. You never really know what you’re going to get when you press the shutter. Light leaks, blurry edges, weird distortions... and somehow, it all just works.

For me, the magic of the Holga is in those imperfections. It turns simple moments into dreamy, nostalgic snapshots that feel more like memories than photos. There’s something special about waiting to develop the film and seeing all the unexpected surprises. It’s a reminder that photography isn’t just about nailing the perfect shot; it’s about capturing a feeling, even if it’s a little messy.

If you’ve ever felt stuck creatively or just want to try something different, I can’t recommend the Holga enough. It’s not about taking flawless pictures—it’s about having fun and embracing whatever comes out. So grab a roll of film, let go of the rules, and see where it takes you. Trust me, it’s worth it.
